Sustainable Fashion: The Vintage Connection

If you're wearing authentic vintage, not to be confused with "vintage style," then congratulations!  Not only are you a trend setter, you are an ethical fashionista.

From what I've read, fashion is the #2 polluter of our planet...right behind the oil industry. Did you know that a "T-shirt takes 700 gallons of water to produce," according to ThreadUp, the largest online seller of secondhand clothes. They also advise that "fashion will drain a quarter of the world's carbon budget by 2050."

"More than half of the 100-billion garments produced end up in incinerators & landfills," according to a segment on the NBC Today show.

Had I know then what I know now, I would not have spent my weekends at the mall shopping for clothes that I did not need and sometimes never even wore. That's right, I still have clothes in my closet from the 90s with their labels.  But I'm trying to make my wrongs right, buying less, wearing what's in my closet & selling my vintage clothing on Etsy.

Should you want to see some of the vintage I have for sale, please visit my Etsy shop: Florida Beach Finds and mention this blog to receive a 20% off coupon.
